The IBLCE (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners: the board overseeing Lactation Consultant certification) does not require all IBCLCs to complete continuing education. IBCLCs must re-certify every 5 years, and may do so via exam OR proving at least 75 hours of continuing education.

I believe that continuing education is critical to ensuring the highest level of evidence-based, competent care is provided. In an effort to further my education and provide my patients the best possible outcomes, I purposely seek out continuing education in areas of high clinical significance.
